Hutchison Ports Holdings (HPH) is a global leader in port operations and logistics, Hutchison Ports Holdings is renowned for its extensive network of ports and terminals worldwide including the Abu Qir Container Terminal (AQCT). The Abu Qir Container Terminal represents a strategic expansion initiative to accommodate the growing demands of maritime trade in the region. Positioned as a state-of-the-art container terminal, AQCT, under the umbrella of Hutchinson Ports Holdings, is set to play a crucial role in bolstering the capabilities of Egypt’s container handling infrastructure. The design involved implementing a stretched data center with stretched clusters, extending the vSAN cluster from a single data site to two sites. This architecture ensured a faster level of availability, intersite load balancing, and utilized VMware technologies, including vCloud Foundation. The comprehensive software-defined stack included VMware vSphere, VMware vSAN, VMware NSX, VMware Tanzu, and VMware Aria Suite. VMware Cloud Foundation provided a complete set of software-defined services for compute, storage, network, container, and cloud management. The result was an agile, reliable, and efficient cloud infrastructure offering consistent operations across private and public clouds.
